Meet Dale Westlow, General Manager (Operations) who shares with us about the importance of delivering on promises to clients, internal managers and staff.
Tell us about your role at BIC Consolidated. What do you do, and where are you based?
General Manager Operations for a diverse portfolio across Victoria.
What spurred/motivated you to get into commercial property services and pursue a career in it?
I was a pest control supplier and was requested to oversee waste issues on events at a major sporting venue. I moved into the venue manager role through the
client recommendation and fell in love with the challenging aspect of the industry.
What does a typical day look like for you? What's something people might be surprised to learn about your job?
My day comprises of all aspects from managing up and managing down, leading my team on the ground and permeates through to our assets which are our cleaners, maintenance, security guards and concierge team members. I travel to all parts of Victoria at all times of the week, I am there for our team 24/7.
What’s one thing you really enjoy about working at BIC Consolidated?
I love BIC Consolidated, I have built amazing relationships with all members and my reporting managers. BIC Consolidated recognises all the hard work from the team, and it is acknowledged in our internal meetings. Being a result’s driven person, this is very important that my team is acknowledged, and BIC Consolidated do this better than anyone.
What’s something you’re proud of in your work, or a moment that stands out?
We have a very diverse portfolio, and all clients are different which we adapt and deliver. Our client’s feedback we receive frequently on our delivery, going above and beyond is priceless, this is a standout and makes me so proud of my team! I can’t thank them enough.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I love to spend time with my wife Clare, my kids Harper and Charlotte, they are amazing and Clare does sacrifice for the family. I am lucky where I do have a monthly catch up with my brother Darren, best mate Peter, Jason, Johny and Chinthaka who all work in the business.
If you could share one thing with someone who doesn’t know much about the cleaning / property services industry, what would it be?
Always deliver on your promises to your clients, internal managers and your staff. People don’t remember the amazing things you do; people remember the let downs or not following through. This is just the nature of day-to-day life, plays a big part in your growth in your working career.
